Ruby Nipple

While reminiscing about Oregon, Logan recalled a drink he had at the one and only Oregon Country Fair called a Ruby Nipple. His recreation of the grapefruit-berry-ginger blend is below:

6 Ruby Red Grapefruits, juiced
10 ice cubes
2 T sweetened berries (we our blackberries from last summer)
1 1/2 tsp fresh ginger, minced and mashed
1 T raw sugar (may need adjusting depending on your fruit)

Makes 2 tall glasses.

The result is pulpy, tangy bliss. I have very low expectations that any of you will actually make this; I just wanted to brag about how awesome Logan is and how the Oregon Country Fair is cool. However, if you feel so inclined the Sunflower Market has 8 for $1.00 grapefruit specials all the time.

And speaking of the Sunflower Market, I LOVE IT! It is like a blessing from the rainy windows of Oregonian heaven showered upon the infertile and barren desert wasteland that is Utah. My stay in this godforsaken valley has become BEARABLE because I can actually eat real food. No other store carries Celery ROOT allllll the time. No other store carries Cheddar Beer Kettle Chips (which is ridiculous because they're the best AND they're alcohol free for the prudes). No other store has Nancy's Cottage Cheese (which is WAY better because it actually tastes like cheese...and cottages). No other store has Rising Moon Organics amazing raviolis (Butternut squash, gorgonzola and hazelnut, among my favorites). And NO other store has free sushi all the time. And they're SO CHEAP (except for the ravioli--but hey). It's the best. And they're not even paying me to say this except with free samples.
